On today’s episode we will be covering “Why Having An Email List Is Better Than Having Followers”


Many times entrepreneurs obsess over the likes and followers and constantly find themselves doing whatever is necessary to get more followers. I am definitely a victim of this. I remember I used to make a post then sit there and watch the number of likes I got. and when i didn’t get over a certain number I felt defeated. Like was this post worthy. should i even have posted it. Maybe I should just post any more. Went down a black rabbit hole and I literally was getting so stressed I had to stop social media for a whole year! And guess what I discovered in that year. An email list! Which I found to be so much better than followers. I’m here to tell you that the real money is in the email list! So let’s talk about why. 


First off 


1. YOU OWN YOUR EMAIL LIST


The issue with social media is that you don’t own your followers. You don’t have their contact information such as email to be able to reach out to them. If Instagram or Facebook shut down you would have no way to access your followers. But with an email list you own those subscribers contact info and you can contact them whenever you want regardless of what happens on social media. So what you want to make sure you do is turn your followers into email subscribers.

2. YOU GET MORE ENGAGEMENT WITH AN EMAIL LIST


The issue with social media is you may have followers, but the followers you have aren’t engaged. That’s because of the new algorithm. You have to jump through hoops just for your followers to see your content. You could be posting the best content in the world but no one will see it if you aren’t high on the algorithm. And there is a concrete plan to work around the algorithm, because it changes so much. But you know what doesn’t change. Emails! People check their emails and are more likely to engage with them because they will actually see them! So sending more emails will allow you to nurture your audience by providing valuable content to get more engagement.

3. YOU CAN SELL TO YOUR EMAIL LIST LIST


The issue with social media is that you can have thousands of likes and followers but few sales from those followers. The thing is followers and likes don’t buy. An engaged and nurtured email subscriber does. After you nurture your email list they will begin to know you like you and trust you and eventually be open to buying from you. With an email list you can sell directly to your subscribers and make sales within an email. 


TO RECAP:


Having an email list is better than having followers because


  1. You own the list – so what you want to do is start getting your followers on your email list

  2. You get more engagement – once you get your followers on your email list you want to nurture them with valuable content

  3. You can sell to the list – once you nurture them sell to them via email


It’s that simple. So do me a favor and stop stressing over how many followers you have. I’m able to make $20,000 a month and it’s not because of my social media followers – it’s because I’ve created an engaged email list.
